Devotional Resources for Older Children

Hello again!  Back today with a few resources to share with you for older children--those who can read independently and who have recently become a Christ follower or are growing in the Lord and are looking to explore the Scriptures on their own.  These resources were found by my stepmom at Lifeway Christian Store, if I recall correctly.  They have been favorites of my daughter (age 7) and I whole-heartedly recommend them for encouraging your children to dig into God's Word for themselves.

These first two books, My Getting to Know Jesus Journal and My Growing to Be Like Jesus Journal are written by Rob Sanders.  They offer activities such as word finds, decoding, fill-in-the-blank, and journaling pages to help kids discover more about Jesus, learn to become or grow as a Christian, and help kids start their own prayer journals.
I'm a Christian Now What? devotional books by Lifeway Church Resources are a bit more involved. They offer a 6-day a week Bible study, created with kids in mind.  There are also teaching pages about how to become a Christian (the "ABCs"), writing out your testimony, why you should tithe, spiritual gifts, and how to pray.  They also include fun puzzle pages about Jesus' parables and His miracles, the Disciples, and general Bible knowledge.
Finally, this last resource How to Study Your Bible for Kids by Kay Arthur is even more in-depth.  It is a great study to teach your children how to tackle a passage of Scripture, ask the "5 W" questions, probe into character profiles, and understand figures of speech, parables, etc.  My daughter seems to be a bit young for this one, but it will be a great book for her to grow into soon!
I hope these resources serve as a help to you and your older children, encouraging them to dig into the Word for THEMSELVES!  What a treasure to teach our children about God's Word and it's relevancy for their daily lives!
