Hope Rising

Are you ready for some good news, today?  I know I am!

I just caught wind of a new book coming out, Hope Rising, written by Scott C. Todd, Senior VP of Global Advocacy at Compassion International (one of my favorite ministries!).  In this book, Todd compiles his knowledge and experience about mobilizing the Church to eradicate extreme global poverty* in this generation.  I have heard abysmal statistics about extreme global poverty in recent years, but I have not heard the good news of the incredible progress that is being made in almost every poverty indicator, such as vaccine-preventable diseases, waterborne diseases, child mortality, and general poverty statistics!

Check it out:
In 1981, 52% of the world's population lived in extreme poverty...but that is now down to 21%
(Compare 3.5 billion people to 1.2 billion)
That shows that extreme poverty has already been cut in half in a generation!

Child mortality is down 50% from where it was 20 years ago!

Radical progress is also being made against malaria, measles, waterborne diseases, and polio is nearly eradicated worldwide!

This is GREAT news and I am excited to see what God will do when He continues to call ALL of us to do OUR part in eradicating extreme global poverty!

How can YOU help?  Well, if you missed my post on water, check it out here.  Also, you can sponsor a child through Compassion International, and check out my post here.  There are so many ways to do your part...the body is counting on you to hear God's call and respond in obedience!  You will be so blessed when you do, dear friend!
