However, it also leaves one at a loss of what to do in the midst of all the activity...and my head is just spinning with all the options: What group to join? What to get involved with? What is really important in all the "stuff" to do?
Because I don't want community groups.
I don't want micro groups (and WHAT exactly are these??)
I don't want discipleship groups. Accountability groups. Sunday school classes. The Big Gathering. Retreats. Potluck dinners. Youth programs. Choir.
I just want God.
And perhaps, you do, too.
Now, don't misunderstand. The Scriptures are very clear that we are to grow within a context of community. There is NO place for the "Lone Ranger" Christian. It states all throughout the Scriptures that we are to grow as a holy people, called and committed do various "one anothering" within the Church and serve and witness to others outside the Church. One such Scripture is Hebrews 10:25 which commands us to never forsake gathering together and encouraging one another, and that we ought to do this all the more as we see the end times approaching.
We need each other to grow and thrive. But we ought to tread carefully, because sometimes this context of community can just become shallow busy-ness that lacks authenticity and loses it's fueling by the source...which is Christ.
Let's break it down to one simple thing....
We want GOD.
