Praising God for His Justice!

In my last post, I wrote about how Jesus, our Savior, can make us very uncomfortable--especially how He is depicted in the 63rd chapter of Isaiah as the conquering King wearing blood-stained garments of red.  However, just hours after I penned and published that post, a Voice of the Martyrs publication arrived to our home in the mail.  After flipping through its pages and reading about the persecution of so many of our brothers and sisters in Christ in various areas around the world, it made me so very appreciative that our Lord and Savior is holy and just to exact vengeance upon those who rebel against and ultimately reject Him and His people.

While it is not easy to look at Christ this way, we must, dear one, and PRAISE Him for it!  Praise God that there will come a day when all the wrongs in this world will be vindicated and made right!  Praise God that He does not turn a deaf ear or a blind eye to the evil at work in this world and in our very hearts!  Praise God that He is sovereign and mighty to overcome evil and ultimately do away with it at the end of the ages!  It is because He is able to do all these things that we as His followers can rest secure in Him and His ability to exact vengeance on the evils of this world, and not to seek to avenge ourselves (Deut, 32:25, Nahum 1:2).  And as the Church, this gives us confidence that the evil that seems to be so very rampant in this world will not be tolerated and will never go unpunished.

In fact, this is what we will be doing as the children of God in Heaven--praising Him for His justice and vengeance on evil.  See it with me in Revelation 19:1-3...

"After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying out,
'Hallelujah!
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,
for his judgments are true and just;
for he has judged the great prostitute
    who corrupted the earth with her immorality,
and has avenged on her the blood of his servants.'
Once more they cried out,
'Hallelujah!
The smoke from her goes up forever and ever.'"

Like our Lord, we as His people must never turn a blind eye to the wrongs being done around the world and in our own backyards, ignoring or dismissing them away.  Instead, we need to learn about what is going on around us.  Whether it is terrorism on the other side of the globe, or human trafficking in our own county of residence, we need to take heed of what is going on and PRAY. GIVE. GO and SERVE.

In fact, if you are local to my area, I'd love to extend to you an invitation to come to my home church on November 2nd to learn about human trafficking in St. Mary's County (Bruster's ice cream will be served and there is free childcare!). Check out this link to learn more about this amazing opportunity to hear from church and community leaders about this heinous evil and how better to pray and serve and give toward's God mission of justice!
