I see the stately White House, all aglow in colors bright,
They say the rainbow stands for what we now believe is "right."
The Supreme Court has declared same-sex marriage to be lawful.
My spirit aches, my soul is crushed; physically, I feel awful.
"Love wins!" they say, as they shout and hug and cheer.
But, I wonder...is the time of Almighty Judgement really here?
"It's our freedom!" they shout, as they dance and strut and tweet,
But isn't real love speaking Truth? (even when it's not saccharine sweet)
You see, what we call "freedom," God calls "judgement" in His Word.
To the modern American ear, this might sound quite absurd!
Exchanging truth for a lie, and claiming to be wise...
God gives us over to our passions, much to our demise!
I can't make this up--the Book of Romans speaks very clearly.
The "freedom" we now enjoy could cost us all very dearly!
Yes, shameless acts and ungodly passions cannot be ignored.
And this is why I must speak out, to turn our conscience toward
Those things of God, which in His Word, He says that He will bless--
The hope and joy and freedom that will be ours when we confess.
And in case you are smug and trust this does NOT apply to you,
It is those of us in His Church who have a LOT to do!
We are called to be humble, pray and seek His face.
Especially at such a time of national disgrace!
To speak the truth in love and stand up for what is right;
Confess our sins and pray to Him to heal with all His might.
For ALL of us are sinners, saved by grace and needing God.
(So we must never wag our finger, have haughty eyes, or sternly nod.)
Instead, we reach out...to listen, serve, and care--
All the while trusting God to change hearts and meet us there.
God's Word says we must warn and are never off the hook.
We cannot be silent, go on our way, or simply refuse to look!
Their blood will be on our hands, Ezekiel states quite well.
If we do not, despite the cost, to our dear brothers tell
Of a better way, a godly way, to live AND be set free.
Love will win, there's no doubt (and thankfully, it doesn't depend on me!)
For "God is love," the Bible says as it eternally defines,
That true life is found in Christ within biblical confines.
This doesn't seem like freedom--when to our flesh, we must say, "NO!"
It might not sound like freedom, when policies must go.
And yet the peace that surpasses understanding will certainly be ours,
When we humbly repent as a nation and seek to live by Spirit powers.
I know it is not popular and won't earn me any praise,
To call us all out on our nation's godless ways,
But for truth I must speak out, and encourage you to pray,
"For God's Kingdom come, Thy will be done," in our land today!
(Romans 1:24-27, Ezekiel 3:18-19, 2 Chronicles 7:14, 1 John 4:8, Philippians 4:6-7)
