Valentine's Day Recast

Are you ever overwhelmed by the love of God?

Just blown away by how much He loves you?  How intimately He knows you?

Today was just such a day for me, where I felt utterly overcome by the realization of God's passionate, never-ending, completely unmerited love for me.

These two verses (pictured above) have been together on my desk for the past few days.  One I pulled out as I read the book of Isaiah a few weeks ago; the other, I pulled out since I am currently reading my way through the book of Exodus.

Never before have I considered them together...until today.

"I am the Lord your God," Exodus 20:2 proclaims, as God reminds His people that He brought them out of Egypt.

"I have called you by name, you are mine," Isaiah 43:1 states, as it exhorts us not to fear.

God is mine.

I am His.

Wait.

God is mine??

I am His??

We are this entity, this mysterious coupling of bride and bridegroom, spoken of within the pages of Scripture.

Such a profound truth, which explodes into the reality of the dirty dishes in my sink and the basket of clean laundry waiting to be folded.

I am undone, but in all the best way.

My bedroom becomes a sanctuary, as I marvel at God and His word.

My day is utterly transformed.

As we approach Valentine's Day this season, have you reflected upon the profound reality of God's love, dear friend?

That God is yours?

That you are His?

May this profound truth transform your day, too, dear one!

Life will never be the same.
